Chelsea were in pre-season action on Saturday afternoon, beating St Patrick’s of the League of Ireland 4-0 with relative ease. However, it was a goal in the match that got fans talking more than the actual game.

Fans tweeted their excitement after Chelsea’s official Twitter account tweeted a video of the opening goal.


A brilliant pass by Mateo Kovacic was met by a  magnificent run and finish by Mason Mount, to open the scoring for Chelsea. The lead was further extended in the first half as Emerson Palmeri struck to make it 2-0.

Olivier Giroud was introduced in the second half and wrapped up the game with two goals in the final 30 minutes.

The win was Chelsea’s first win of pre-season and first under new boss Frank Lampard.
