Petr Cech will forever hold a place in the hearts of us fans. He gave us some of our greatest memories, with the penalty shootout performance in the 2012 Champions League final a stand out moment for many of us.

In case it has slipped your notice Cech is no longer a professional footballer. The Czech international announced back in January that he would be retiring from football when his contract with Arsenal expires on June the 30th.

It’s a shame to see the 37-year-old leave the sport, however, he will forever be remembered as one of the best goalkeepers in Premier League history.

Cech kept 202 clean sheets in over 400 games in the Premier League, winning four titles along the way. His record of 202 clean sheets is the most clean sheets kept by any goalkeeper in the top flight of English football.

Cech’s final game as a professional footballer was a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea in last month’s Europa League final in Baku.

Chelsea fans seemed to react will a lot of love and compassion towards Cech, as he posted one final farewell message before the expiry of his last ever contract as a professional footballer.

Here is a selection of tweets from Chelsea fans, who were thankful for Cech’s service for Chelsea:
