I bet you clicked this article expecting a piece about the new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard? Well, you’re wrong, because this piece is about current goalkeeper Kepa Arizzabalaga.
The Spain international returned to pre-season training on Monday, and the fans seemed to be enthralled about the return of ‘their manager’.

The 23-year-old was famously involved in a very public spat with former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, refusing to come off when Sarri had readied substitute goalkeeper Willy Caballero in the Carabao Cup final. The spat with Sarri saw fans label Arizzabalaga, Chelsea’s ‘manager’ after he was criticised for undermining the Italian by staying on.
Arizzabalaga recovered from the mishap, as he played a crucial role in Chelsea’s semi-final win versus Eintracht Frankfurt as the club went on to lift the Europa League.
Here is a selection of tweets from fans after Arizzabalaga returned to pre-season training with Chelsea:
Our manager.
