Bristol City have confirmed the signing of defender Tomas Kalas from Chelsea. The deal is Bristol City’s second signing of a defender from Chelsea after they secured the signing of Jay Dasilva for an undisclosed fee last week.

The signing has caused celebration among Bristol City fans, who believe they’ve got a bargain after the fee was reported to be £8 million.


Before his move to Ashton Gate, Kalas was Chelsea’s longest serving player, having been at the club since his move from Czech club, Olomouc in 2010.

The Czech international only ever made four appearances for Chelsea’s first-team, with all of them coming under former manager Jose Mourinho in the 2013/2014 season, including a memorable start in Chelsea’s 2-0 against Liverpool at Anfield.

Bristol City fans believe they’ve secured a great deal for Kalas and reacted with joy on Twitter.
