With the return of Frank Lampard, it will be hard for some fans to recognise other familiar faces who are also making their return to Stamford Bridge.
Joe Edwards is making a return alongside manager Lampard as part of his first-team coaching set-up. “Who is Edwards?” I hear you typing.
Edwards is a life-long Blues fans who was part of the Chelsea academy for eights years. He was later released by the club, and after receiving his first major coaching role at the age of just 20, he retired from football altogether.
After being announced as a coach in Lampard’s backroom staff, Edwards took to Twitter to tweet a message of thanks.
So grateful for this opportunity, and for the overwhelming support from Chelsea fans. Anyone who knows about my journey with this club will understand just how much this means to me. But like the gaffer said earlier, won’t dwell on emotion too much, it’s time to work! ????????????
