Antonio Rudiger’s return from a knee injury looks to be going better than expected if his latest social media post is anything to go by – sending fans into meltdown over the centre-back potentially coming back to the squad before the Premier League season begins next month.

The German international was forced off in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United back in April and it was first feared that he would miss the start of the upcoming season after he underwent surgery on his left knee meniscus. His latest picture shows him hard at work strengthening his legs in the gym.

He missed the final five games of the season but fans are clearly eager to see him back as soon as possible with one supporter brandishing him as captain whilst another called him a champion defender.

It’s clear to see that Rudiger is a fan-favourite amongst supporters with one member of the Stamford Bridge faithful hoping to see him back soon and similarly, one fan said we need you fit and healthy for this season.

It would be quite the turnaround for the 26-year-old if he were to make the season opener against United, the very team he sustained the injury against.
