For most of the summer, Chelsea fans have been desperate to see one of their biggest young stars sign a new contract but his latest demands may have been a stretch too far. The Standard report that Callum Hudson-Odoi’s representatives are requesting the winger receive the recently vacant number ten shirt as part of any new contract extension.

Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid has not only left behind a 26-goal void but also the number ten shirt. Long-serving winger Willian revealed last week that he believed the club had offered the shirt to him but there may now be a spanner in the works with Hudson-Odoi demanding it for himself before he puts pen to paper – leaving many fans at Stamford Bridge quite annoyed.

The overriding consensus was that fans thought the winger was demanding too much with one supporter claiming he is yet to show his class in the Premier League and that he should just focus on doing his job for Chelsea. Others echoed this sentiment by claiming he hasn’t even had one good season yet and if he doesn’t want to stay then the club should sell him.

Hudson-Odoi has only made 28 appearances for the senior side since his debut in January 2018, where he came on as a substitute in their FA Cup game against Newcastle. Only four of those games saw him start a game in the Premier League yet the 18-year-old appears to be stalling over a new contract until he receives the number ten shirt.

One fan claimed the club were being schooled by a child whilst others labelled him ‘overhyped’ and a ‘flop’. Some members of the Blues faithful offered advice stating he should learn from N’Golo Kante by winning the support of the Chelsea fanbase through commitment and loyalty whilst another said he has to earn the shirt so number 17 or number 20 shouldn’t be an issue.

Here’s the best of the reaction below:
