Eden Hazard’s recent departure from Chelsea has left behind a number of things – one of which was a huge legacy after making 352 appearances for the club, whilst the other is the big void out on the left flank, where they need to replace his 21 goals last season. It also meant that the number ten shirt was available to one of their remaining stars. In a recent interview, Brazilian winger Willian revealed that the club have told him the shirt is his which has left some supporters shocked.
The 30-year-old has had a mixed relationship with the club’s fans and this latest update isn’t going to help that at all. Willian has made 292 appearances in the blue colours of West London – scoring 52, assisting 53 and winning four major trophies including two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and one Europa League – though for some, that isn’t enough to warrant the number ten shirt.
One supporter labelled the decision as depressing whilst another claimed it was stupidity at its best. These negative opinions were echoed by more fans who said that the club was heading to an all-time low and they were lacking ambition. One even wondered why Callum Hudson-Odoi wasn’t receiving the honours.

Foolish club. Instead of them to look for a better player to give that shirt number once their ban is over
