Last season was a bit of a mess at Chelsea. From heavy defeats away from home on the pitch to the dressing room rows off it, Chelsea were abysmal.

What’s being said?

However, Cesar Azpilcueta has just recently promised in an interview with The Evening Standard that the senior players can be trusted to help the youngsters adapt to life in the first-team.

He said: “He is very keen to give opportunities to the younger players. All the senior players, we are happy and we are trying to help all of them.”

“We have the best academy in England and, obviously, it is a chance for all of them to step up and to see them in the first team.” (Source: The Evening Standard)

Don’t trust them, Frank

It’s hard to look at the Chelsea senior players and trust them to help the youth players.

Under the three previous managers, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and Maurizio Sarri, there have been reports of the managers losing the dressing room. This shows a clear lack of leadership and poor attitude from some senior players at Chelsea.

Chelsea players have shown in recent seasons they cannot be trusted to act as role models, so it will be wholly irresponsible for Lampard to trust them next season.
