With Christian Pulisic joining Chelsea, and Callum Hudson-Odoi breaking through the club’s academy last season, the future is bright on the wings. But, which of the two is a better player?

What’s being said?

According to ex-Sunderland player Michael Gray, Hudson-Odoi is currently a better player than new signing Christian Pulisic, despite the vast experience of the American international.

He said: “Hudson-Odoi if he stays at Chelsea. Personally, at the moment, I think he’s a better player than Pulisic.”

“I’ve seen him (Pulisic)  play six or seven times, and, yes, he’s got some nice ability. I think he’s raw, and I don’t think he’s ready to play every single week in the Premier League.” (Source: talkSPORT)

Hudson-Odoi is much better

While Hudson-Odoi is two years younger than Pulisic and has just one full season with Chelsea first-team, it seems hard to argue with Gray.

Both Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic finished with the same amount of goal contributions last season. However, given Bayern Munich’s seven-year domination of the Bundesliga, you’d expect Pulisic to contribute far more in what seems a less competitive league that the Premier League.

Pulisic has played over 120 games for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and contributed just 45 goals. To put that into perspective, Hudson-Odoi as contributed almost 30% of Pulisic’s 45 goal contributions in just 28 games in a single season with the Chelsea first-team.

At just 18-years-old Hudson-Odoi is a better player than Pulisic, and should be starting week-in week-out when he returns from injury.
