£35m rated star’s contract talks show how ungrateful he really is – opinion

It’s no mystery what is happening regarding Callum Hudson-Odoi and a potential contract extension and/or move away to Bayern Munich.

The England international was said to have agreed on terms to a new five-year deal over two weeks ago, according to The Metro. The terms were set to see Hudson-Odoi earn a mammoth £100,000 a week at the mere age of 18.

One thing is clear from a Chelsea perspective, they can’t allow this saga to run on for too long, or they risk losing an extremely talented youngster for next to nothing come next summer. If the opportunity arises, and the 18-year-old still hasn’t signed an extension, then Chelsea need to sell him to the highest bidder. According to The Daily Mail, Bayern Munich have not given up hope of signing the £31.5m rated star, and are looking to bid a steep £45m for the youngster.

Any potential sale would open up far more opportunities to other youth stars, that Frank Lampard has vowed to give a chance to in the upcoming season if they perform, opening up new opportunities to blood more wingers.

This transfer saga shows one part of football you absolutely hate, the steep wages for young players. While the lure of Bayern Munich may be too much, Hudson-Odoi has no reason to reject a contract at Chelsea, with various factors in his favour.

As mentioned above, Lampard has said youth players would get more chances to play in the first-team. And with Hudson-Odoi’s limited playing time under Maurizio Sarri last season, you’d think the prospect of playing regularly would appeal to him.

As well as the chances he’ll get next season, he’d be learning from a manager, enjoyed a very memorable rise to the top of football. Lampard’s rise to becoming Chelsea’s record goalscorer should show Hudson-Odoi how good of an opportunity he currently has in his hand’s at Stamford Bridge.

If Hudson-Odoi does end up leaving Chelsea for Bayern Munich, it will show a huge level of ungratefulness from the youngster. He has all the tools needed to become a success, and he should commit to the club sooner rather than later, or Lampard should offload him.
