David Luiz has made a rather staggering claim over the new boss, Frank Lampard’s managerial reign at Stamford Bridge, and it may not go down well with fans.

What’s being said?

The 32-year-old claimed that Lampard will be under pressure to deliver glory at the club due to the size of Chelsea as a club.

Luiz alluded to how the managers have changed, but the success still maintained, saying Lampard will be under pressure to deliver.

He said: “If you keep winning titles, this is good. In the last years, we’ve changed coach but still won things.”

“Now, we have a different coach with a new philosophy. But in the end it is the same thing: you play for a big club and a big club has to win.”

“He cannot run any more and cannot score goals any more but he’s still a leader.

“The squad is good enough, with the experienced players, the talented players, and the young players.” (Source: The Sun)

Maybe not so soon?

While Chelsea are a big club and glory will need to be delivered by Lampard at some stage of his managerial reign at Chelsea, he’s under no pressure to deliver that success for at least a couple of seasons.

It’s not the wisest move to put both your teammates and manager under pressure before the season has started.

Given the current domination of Manchester City and Liverpool and Chelsea’s transfer ban immediate success next season is already off the cards, despite Chelsea’s history of winning trophies and changing managers in recent seasons
