Samuel Eto’o was quite the player during his glittering career, enjoying mountains of success at major European clubs. However, he is probably less remembered for his short spell at Chelsea, having a minimal impact at the club. The Cameroonian international spent just one season at Stamford Bridge scoring 12 goals and assisting a further seven.
It seems five years after leaving Chelsea Eto’o is still trying to do his old employers favours. The 38-year-old called for Liverpool and Egyptian international Mohamed Salah to join Barcelona, saying it would be good for him.
He said: “I know Barcelona’s style and I think it would be better for him. Mo has everything to be one of the best players in the world.” (source: BBC)
The quotes haven’t gone down with the Anfield faithful, with mass amounts of Liverpool fans letting Eto’o know what they think of him and about a prospective move to a club which Liverpool beat 4-0 in the Champions League semi-final last season.
Here is a selection of tweets from Liverpool fans after ex-Chelsea star’s comments on Salah:
Salah beat Barcwlona 4-0. Why would he downgrade?

‘Go join the team that you thrashed 4-0 on the way to winning the competition’ Don’t think Salah is gonna be handing in a transfer request any time soon.

Mo I’ve got an idea lad, leave a club thats obviously on the up, give barca and Messi a 3 goal start and still embarrassed them. Look at the shining example coutinho has become for players swapping Merseyside for Barca. You can go from been the man to playing 2nd fiddle? pic.twitter.com/qxwqezfMmP
