Fernando Torres, one of the most lethal strikers Spain has ever produced, has announced he is due to retire from football.

Torres has announced that he will announce the details of his last game for Japanese club Sagan Tosu in a press conference on Sunday.

Torres will retire from football best remembered for his days in the Premier League. Torres played for both Liverpool and Chelsea, scoring 126 goals in 314 appearances across all competitions.

While Torres didn’t capture his early-career form at Stamford Bridge, the 35-year-old was hugely successful in west London. winning both European trophies, as well as an FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Torres also enjoyed a successful international career, playing a starring role as part of Spain’s treble-winning international side, winning two European Championships and a World Cup.
