The only silver lining in Chelsea’s transfer ban will be the amount of game time that can now be given to a queue of youngsters returning from loan spells.

But something of a forgotten man will also be making a return to Stamford Bridge, with serious injury and a two-year spell away from the club limiting his progress in Chelsea blue.

Kurt Zouma could provide some strength to the club’s defensive ranks after gaining Premier League experience at Stoke City and Everton.

The 24-year-old’s rise to prominence took a major setback after a knee injury in 2016 disrupted his early Chelsea days.

Returning to challenge the likes of David Luiz and Andreas Christensen for a starting berth, some fans are excited by the French international’s comeback to the first-team fold.

Zouma’s inclusion will relieve Maurizio Sarri – or his potential replacement – of the task of replacing the departing Gary Cahill, who struggled for game time last season.

And going by these tweets, fans are incredibly encouraged by the Frenchman providing some solid competition amongst the Chelsea backline – which may need to be on its game next season without the likes of Eden Hazard to do the business at the other end:
