After an indifferent first year at Stamford Bridge, Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly declared a desire to fight for his place in the Chelsea first-team next season.

The Frenchman joined the club from Monaco in the summer of 2017, and spent the past year at AC Milan to rekindle the kind of form that persuaded Chelsea to recruit his services in the first place.

Having some success to that degree during his loan spell, it seems Bakayoko is set to stake a claim for a starting berth at the club as he looks to reboot his Blues career.

Fans have been impressed with his performances at the San Siro, and have been debating whether he should be given a second chance by whoever ends up as Chelsea boss in the new season.

Arriving fresh from helping Monaco towards an unlikely Ligue 1 triumph, expectations had been high on the midfielder as Chelsea sought to defend a championship of their own.

But his performances saw him fall out of favour towards the end of his debut campaign, and while it ended in FA Cup glory, fans will feel they are yet to see the best of Bakayoko – but haven’t given up hope:
