Maurizio Sarri’s uncertain future at Chelsea has got everyone talking – but these supporters would rather some people hadn’t bothered wading into the debate on who should take over the reins – should the Italian depart as expected to Juventus.

Unfortunately, former midfielder Dennis Wise did just that when offering his opinions on the current managerial situation at the club.

Sarri has not always received backing from the fans during his short time at Stamford Bridge to date, but getting the team into the Champions League and securing the Europa League trophy has got him into the good books of Wise – who would be disappointed if his first season would prove to be his last.

But it was perhaps his suggestion for his replacement that bemused Chelsea fans the most – with ex-teammate Gianfranco Zola currently top of Wise’s wish list.

Zola has had limited success as a manager, with his most recent spell at Birmingham City in 2017 saw him endure a dismal run of two wins in 24 games.

And while the Italian has top-flight managerial experience in England and Italy, these fans seem content to have the Chelsea legend in the Stamford Bridge dugout – just not as the main man:
