Chelsea have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the signing of midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who will move to Stamford Bridge for a reported fee of £40 million.
The move will come as a shock to many football fans, as just months ago Chelsea were banned from signing players by FIFA, after breaking rules regarding youth players. However, with Kovacic still registered as a Chelsea player until this coming Sunday, the club were afforded the opportunity at signing the 25-year-old.
The news has caused fits of hilarity among the Blues fanbase after fans realised that the price for Kovacic equalled the amount London rivals Arsenal are reported to have available to spend on players this summer.
