With Jorginho lacking the defensive skill set to play in defensive midfield, and N’golo Kante lacking the passing skill set to play in attacking positions, a union of the two midfielders in front of Chelsea’s defence could be a match made in heaven for possible new manager Frank Lampard

Just imagine it, Kante’s steely defensive nous and Jorginho’s eagle-eyed passing, Lampard could have possibly one of the best combinations in midfield in the Premier League.

What more can be said about Kante? The Diminutive Frenchman has been a world beater since entering English football with Leicester City in 2015. Since his arrival, Kante has won back to back Premier League titles as well as an FA Cup and the Europa League. The domestic success has coincided with international success with the French national team, as Kante won the World Cup last year.

It’s no surprise Kante has enjoyed so much success, especially when you look at his defensive contributions during his double Premier League success. During both his Premier League-winning campaigns, the 27-year-old finished first (2015/2016) and second (2016/2017) for the most tackles made during the campaign.

While Jorginho was widely criticised for his performances last season, the Italian international still proved his worth in Mauricio Sarri’s system. The 27-year-old finished with the most passes in the Premier League, and the most in the Chelsea team. However, Jorginho is more than just the amount of passes completed in the whole season. The former Napoli man has completed the second most passes per game in the Premier League, as well as the most through balls per game. This shows that Jorginho was the heartbeat of Chelsea last season, and a key cog in the well-oiled machine that was ‘Sarriball.’

If you were to combine the two players together Chelsea would have good levels of creativity and a strong wall in front of their defence. Chelsea are currently limited due to a transfer ban by FIFA, however, combing Kante and Jorginho could solve much of their problems in midfield.
