Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has identified his plans for January and is keen on splashing £75m on two Serie A players in January, according to Corriere dello Sport via TeamTalk.
The Blues have improved significantly under the guidance of the former Napoli boss, standing unbeaten in all competitions since the defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield, but still have areas in need of improvement.
Sarri is keen on bolstering his defence with a young centre-back to replace the ageing Gary Cahill, who is pushing for an exit, while he is also seeking an additional striker to provide competition for Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata.
This will see Chelsea return in the market for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, a target of Sarri’s in the summer, while the Blues are also looking to sign Genoa’s in-form striker Krzysztof Piatek – who has already hit 12 goals this season.
Landing the pair would be expensive though, as the report states Genoa and Juventus are seeking fees that would total around £75m.
