Barcelona are the latest name to be mentioned as a possible destination for Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek.

Gazzetta Dello Sport (via TEAMtalk) are reporting that the La Liga club will challenge Chelsea for the Polish international.

The Italian newspaper says that Barca have sent scouts to watch Piatek in action to assess whether he would be a good option for the Catalan club.

However, the Blues are still reportedly in the driving seat for the 23-year-old. CaughtOffside.com say that the London side have already contacted Genoa about signing the forward in the January transfer window.

It is believed that Piatek would cost as much as €40m (£35.3m) with Genoa already looking to make a quick profit on a player they bought for just €4m in July.

The Polish striker has bagged 12 goals in his first seven games for the Serie A side and is attracting interest from a host of teams right across Europe.
