Turkish giants Besiktas have held talks with Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud regarding a potential move to the club in January, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik via Turkish-Football.
Besiktas, like Chelsea, are contending in the Europa League this season and are seeking the addition of a new striker in January after losing Alvaro Negredo to UAE side Al Nassr in mid-September.
Giroud, signed from Arsenal in January, has less than a year remaining on his deal and the report states that the agent of the France World Cup winner has given his approval for a move when the window reopens in January.
The 32-year-old has featured in six Premier League games this season, contributing three assists, but is yet to score under Maurizio Sarri – a major headache for the Italian boss as Alvaro Morata has also been misfiring.
With Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham on loan with Valencia and Aston Villa respectively, Chelsea will likely only approve an exit for Giroud if they sign a new forward in the January window.
