Danny Drinkwater is not looking to leave Chelsea despite failing to establish himself in Maurizio Sarri’s plans, according to The Telegraph.

The England international failed to make the cut for the Blues’ Europa League squad and was not even named on the bench for the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool last week, which shows just how far down the club’s pecking order he is.

A £35m signing from Leicester City in 2017, Drinkwater has started just 12 games for Chelsea since moving across the Premier League and the Blues were keen to offload his services in the summer, the report adds, but the 28-year-old wanted to prove himself.

Despite still failing to feature in Sarri’s plans at Stamford Bridge, Drinkwater’s stance has not changed and he is even prepared to wait until next summer if the right opportunity does not arise during the January transfer window.

With Chelsea having signed Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic in the summer, Drinkwater’s chances of featuring in a midfield that also boasts the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ethan Ampadu look extremely slim.
