Monaco are set to move for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen when the window reopens in January, according to The Sun.

The Denmark international has struggled to earn opportunities in Maurizio Sarri’s side this season after seeing Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz establish a strong partnership at the heart of Chelsea’s defensive line.

Despite being under contract until 2022, Christensen has hinted at an exit after seeing his playing chances decline significantly as he made 40 appearances in all competitions under Antonio Conte last season.

Monaco, under the guidance of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, have emerged as suitors in the market for the 22-year-old and could have an ace up their sleeve in the hunt for Christensen through former Chelsea man Michael Emenalo, now Sporting Director with the Ligue 1 club.

Christensen could be just the first of many to quit Chelsea in January amidst their frustrations, with Gary Cahill, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater also potentially on the move.
