Chelsea are set to go head-to-head with London rivals Tottenham for the services of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic, according to CalcioMercato.

The Serbia striker has been in sensational form for the Bundesliga outfit this season after scoring nine goals in 10 matches across all competitions, including a five-goal haul in a 7-1 drubbing against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Friday.

Joining Frankfurt on-loan from Benfica in the summer, the German side have an option to purchase the 20-year-old on a permanent basis but they could face a stern test retaining the services of the two-cap Serbia international.

Chelsea are expressing an interest in his services as they seek to bolster their attacking options with a clinical forward with Alvaro Morata continuing to struggle to impress at Stamford Bridge, while Olivier Giroud has not scored at club level since May.

However, the fact Frankfurt’s loan lasts until the end of the season means a January deal is highly unlikely.
