Chelsea will face competition in the market from Atletico Madrid for the services of Krzysztof Piatek, according to AS via CalcioMercato.

The Poland international has been in sensational form for Genoa this season, scoring eight goals in his first six Serie A matches after moving to the Italian side in the summer.

Piatek, who has also scored four goals in the Coppa Italia, became the first player in Europe to hit double figures for the season and his impressive form in front of goal has courted the attention of numerous clubs on the continent.

Chelsea, seeking improvements to their frontline amidst uninspiring performances from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata, are among those keen on the 23-year-old’s signature but Atletico Madrid are the latest side to join the hunt.

Costing Genoa just £4m in the summer, per TransferMarktthe Italian side can expect a healthy profit if they approve a departure when the window opens in January.
