Aston Villa are preparing to move to sign Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi in January, The Birmingham Mail reports.

The Championship promotion hopefuls, who sacked manager Steve Bruce last week amidst a woeful run of form that sees them enter the international break with just one win from their last 11 matches in all competitions, already have Tammy Abraham at the club until the end of the season.

However, Villa are keen on bolstering their attacking options with the addition of 17-year-old Hudson-Odoi as Maurizio Sarri prepares to sanction a loan deal to help the teenager earn regular first-team football to aid his development.

Highly-rated by the Blues, Hudson-Odoi is tipped to become a star in the coming years for Chelsea but his chances of first-team football at Stamford Bridge are extremely slim due to competition with the likes of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

The teenager has featured twice for Chelsea’s senior side, both of which came last season under Antonio Conte.
