Inter Milan may consider a move for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com).

The Nerazzurri are looking for a playmaker in midfield and had been pursuing Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, but they could look to the Blues star as an alternative option.

Fabregas’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer and he will be able to speak to foreign clubs about a free transfer in January.

The 31-year-old is currently out of action with a knee injury, but it will be interesting to see where he figures in manager Maurizio Sarri’s plan once he returns to full fitness.

Despite the Spaniard heading into the final nine months of his five-year deal, there has been very little talk in the media about the contract being renewed.

Fabregas has been an integral player for Chelsea since his arrival from Barcelona in 2014, making 183 appearances in all competitions for the London club.
