Chelsea turned down a loan bid from Red Bull Salzburg for Callum Hudson-Odoi before the transfer window closed on Friday, according to the Sun (via Tribal Football).
The 17-year-old started Maurizio Sarri’s first competitive match in charge, in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City, but he hasn’t featured in the matchday squad since then.
Hudson-Odoi will likely feature in cup competitions, as well as in Premier League 2 for the under 23s this season, but it seems he isn’t deemed ready for regular first-team action just yet.
The wide man has so far made five senior appearances at senior level, having been given his debut by Antonio Conte last season in the FA Cup.
He came on for the final ten minutes of the 3-0 fourth-round win against Newcastle back in late January. The teenager then made his first Premier League appearance a few days later in the shock 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.
