Chelsea are leading the race for Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa, according to the Daily Express.

The Italian international revealed back in August that his club had slapped a €70m (£62m) price tag on his head to ward off the likes of Juventus and Napoli, but the Blues are said to be keen to make a deal happen in the January transfer window.

Chiesa only signed a new contract last November but he had been heavily linked with a move away from the Viola in the summer after a breakthrough season in Serie A.

The 20-year-old scored six goals and provided nine assists in 36 league games. He has started this campaign in similar form with one goal and one assist from the opening three fixtures.

The Express report that Maurizio Sarri’s former side Napoli are the team that will provide the fiercest competition for Chiesa’s signature, but it must be said the finances of the deal would favour the London club.
