Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois believes he can see the difference in size between Real Madrid and the Blues just by looking at the club’s two stadiums.

The Belgian international was talking in an interview with Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad (translated by Metro.co.uk) when he said:

“[The Bernabeu is] twice as big [as Stamford Bridge], of course, it’s a very different feeling. If you look forward, you only see a wall of people, while at Stamford Bridge you can still see the sky or the hotel behind the grandstand.”

Fans on Twitter were certainly not amused by his comments:

One supporter never rated the player anyway:

Courtois has certainly burned all his bridges since leaving the club. By the looks of things, he may live to regret his decision.

Since moving back to Spain, the 26-year-old has made just one appearance under manager Julen Lopetegui. Keylor Navas had retained his place in goal at the start of the season but the Belgian was given his debut at the weekend.

The keeper could, however, not keep a clean sheet in the 4-1 home win over Leganes. It will be interesting to see if he retains his place after the international break.
