Maurizio Sarri arrived at Chelsea this summer to inherit a squad that had taken a major hit under the guidance of Antonio Conte last season, where senior players fell out with the Italian boss.
His compatriot is leading changes in west London upon his arrival, with The Telegraph stating Sarri has relaxed rules around diet and match preparation in order to improve the squad’s morale for the season ahead.
Under Conte, a rule unpopular with a host of players saw the squad spent nights before evening matchdays at the Chelsea Harbour hotel and the players also had a limited choice of food – both of which have been changed under Sarri’s guidance.
The Blues got off to the ideal start under their new boss in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town but face a stern test this weekend as they welcome Arsenal to Stamford Bridge, who are also under new leadership following Unai Emery’s appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor.
