Stamford Bridge is likely to be a hive of activity for the remainder of the transfer window, as Maurizio Sarri plots to rejuvenate his Chelsea squad.

The Blues are in the market for a new goalkeeper and central midfielder, while a number of departures are also expected to occur – and the possibility of another exit has risen following new reports.

According to The Mirror, Everton have turned their attention towards Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma after seeing the sagas concerning Barcelona’s Yerry Mina and Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo rumble on for days.

Marco Silva has prioritised the signing of a new central defender before Thursday’s transfer deadline and is seeking a deal to sign Zouma on loan for the forthcoming season.

23-year-old Zouma spent last season with Stoke City, playing 34 matches for a side that suffered relegation to the Championship and finished with the joint-worst defensive record in the entire Premier League.

Everton are said to be confident of completing a deal.
