Chelsea are under new leadership under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri and the Italian made a number of exciting additions during the summer window.
The Blues drafted in Kepa Arrizabalaga, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho as their three major signings in the summer transfer window, with Kepa and Jorginho both making their Premier League debut in last weekend’s victory over Huddersfield Town.
Italy international Jorginho marked his debut with a goal from the penalty spot and has been praised by former Celtic man Chris Sutton in the aftermath of the victory, as the pundit tipped him to bring the best out of fellow midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said:
“Kante’s playing a slightly different role. Jorginho’s playing as the holding midfielder, quarter-back if you like. Kante has been released further forward, he even scored at the weekend.
“But actually, I think that suits him in terms of if you want to play a pressing game at a high intensity, who is better at that than Kante? I think that’s a masterstroke.
“Jorginho topped all the passing stats in the top-five European leagues last season. I think he’s got better quality on the ball than Kante.”
