Chelsea have bolstered their midfield ranks this summer with the captures of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, the latter of which sealed a Deadline Day loan move from Real Madrid.

The new duo are tipped to partner Cesc Fabregas in Maurizio Sarri’s first-choice midfield trio, limiting the potential opportunities for England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but he’s keen to fight for his place.

The Daily MailĀ states that Loftus-Cheek will not consider an exit from the club on Deadline Day but is waiting to see what his playing time is like in the first few weeks of the season – and may push for a move to Europe before the month comes to a close.

That puts the ball in Sarri’s court at Chelsea in the quest to retain the services of the 23-year-old who caught the eye on loan with Crystal Palace last season, which saw him secure a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
