Chelsea could be set to lose a midfield outcast in August as Italian giants AC Milan plot a swoop for Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Sky SportsĀ states Milan are keen on a loan deal for the France international, who moved to the Premier League last summer from Monaco but struggled in his debut season in English football – and has fallen out of the picture following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival.

However, Bakayoko has featured in pre-season for the Blues and started in the club’s final game against Lyon before the new season yesterday, although his spot is under threat due to competition from Cesc Fabregas and new signing Jorginho.

The Blues are also stated to be in the market for a new midfielder in the window’s final days, reportedly being offered Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic on loan, so Bakayoko could tumble further down the club’s standing.

AC Milan have under the end of August to negotiate a deal, whereas Chelsea must secure new signings by 5pm BST tomorrow.
