New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is preparing for an extremely busy end to the transfer window, with the former Napoli boss looking to further his options in midfield.

Sarri does not fancy Danny Drinkwater or Tiemoue Bakayoko as a starter and is looking for a new signing to partner Jorginho in the heart of midfield, having signed the Italy international from Napoli last month.

According to The Daily MailChelsea are eyeing a surprise swoop to land Wales international Aaron Ramsey from Premier League rivals Arsenal as they seek to take advantage of the 27-year-old’s contract situation.

While the Gunners are confident Ramsey will agree to a new long-term deal, the former Cardiff City man has entered the final 12 months of his current contract and there are concerns he could run down his deal in a similar fashion to Alexis Sanchez last term.

Arsenal will be desperate to ensure they retain Ramsey’s signature and do not lose his services to a Premier League rival, having seen a number of their stars snatched by the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City in recent years.
