The transfer window may have closed in the Premier League but deals taking players away from Chelsea could still be completed in August.

In Europe, the transfer window runs until the end of the month and it looks likely that Chelsea will see the departure of Tiemoue Bakayoko before the start of September.

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercatothe France midfielder is closing in on a transfer to AC Milan that will see the former Monaco man arrive on loan with an option to make the deal permanent next season.

Chelsea only signed Bakayoko last summer but saw the 23-year-old struggle for form in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge and has since tumbled down the pecking order following the signings of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.

Danny Drinkwater and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have also remained at Stamford Bridge, leading Bakayoko to be surplus to requirements in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for his debut campaign in west London.
