Chelsea are eyeing late deals in the transfer market under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri and midfield additions are top of his wish-list.
The Blues have already drafted in Jorginho from Napoli but are seeking another addition to play alongside the Italy international and may have been presented with the chance to sign a World Cup finalist.
According to Di Marzio journalist Francesco Porzio, Chelsea are showing the most interest in the services of Croatia international Mateo Kovacic after he made his intentions to leave Real Madrid this summer clear.

The 24-year-old has struggled to secure regular football with the Champions League winners since joining from Inter Milan in 2015, making 21 appearances in LaLiga last term and a further seven in the club’s European success.
Kovacic has reportedly refused to train as he attempts to seal an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu but Chelsea will face a fight to land his services, as Serie A giants AC Milan are also eyeing a swoop to bring the midfielder back to Italian football.
