Chelsea entered the 2018-19 Premier League campaign with a new boss in charge and three new signings, with Maurizio Sarri drafting in Kepa Arrizabalaga, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.

The Blues were heavily linked with a host of other players though and speculation late in the window suggested that the west London giants were seeking a deal for Nabil Fekir – who saw a proposed move to Liverpool fall through earlier in the window.

According to GoalChelsea eventually decided against a move to land the World Cup winner from Lyon after keeping the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian at Stamford Bridge – despite the pair being linked with lucrative moves across Europe.

That meant there was no place for Fekir, who scored 23 Ligue 1 goals for Lyon last season, in the side and plans to land the France international have been shelved for now – but Sarri could reignite a move in January as he remains keen on bolstering his attacking ranks.
