Chelsea are braced for plenty of activity in the final 24 hours of the transfer window, as the Blues aim to bring an end to numerous sagas.

Maurizio Sarri’s side look set to lose the services of Thibaut Courtois, who has been skipping training in an attempt to push through a move to Real Madrid, and could receive a player on loan as part of the deal taking the Belgium international to the Spanish capital.

The Telegraph states Real Madrid are looking to sweeten their £35m approach for Courtois by offering Croatia’s World Cup finalist Mateo Kovacic as part of the deal, with the midfielder keen to leave the Spanish capital.

Sarri is in the market for a new midfielder to partner Jorginho in the Premier League this season and Kovacic is understood to be a target, with Chelsea now having an opportunity to seal a deal for the 24-year-old.

However, Real Madrid can negotiate a deal for Courtois until the end of August whereas Chelsea have until 5pm BST tomorrow to agree a loan for Kovacic.
