Chelsea have been busy in the final hours of the summer transfer window, with Maurizio Sarri restructuring his squad ahead of his debut season.

The Blues confirmed the capture of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao yesterday in a world-record deal for a goalkeeper, which has set the wheels in motion for Thibaut Courtois to seal a move to Real Madrid.

As part of that deal, Chelsea have confirmed the capture of Mateo Kovacic on loan from the Champions League winners for the forthcoming season as Maurizio Sarri’s fourth signing, following the captures of Jorginho, Rob Green and Kepa.

Speaking after signing at Stamford Bridge, he said:

“I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new team-mates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season.”
