Chelsea look set to retain the services of a highly-rated midfielder as reports from the continent indicate that claims of a Bundesliga side’s interest are false.
Sky Sports states that Bundesliga runners-up Schalke are not interested in a loan deal for Blues midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, contrary to reports which suggested the Champions League side are weighing up a move.
22-year-old Loftus-Cheek caught the eye on loan with Crystal Palace last season, earning a spot in England’s World Cup squad, and is said to be considering a move abroad if he is not handed first-team opportunities before the end of the month.
However, he is focused on forcing his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans and the departure of Tiemoue Bakayoko to AC Milan has seen Loftus-Cheek rise up the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
In four years at Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek has earned 23 Premier League appearances and has scored one goal for the Blues.
