Chelsea look to be edging ever closer to a major departure after it was indicated that one of their stars has agreed personal terms elsewhere.

The Daily MailĀ states Thibaut Courtois has reached an agreement with Champions League winners Real Madrid, who will now focus their attention on discussing a price with the Blues.

Courtois, formerly of Atletico, is vying for a return to the Spanish capital after winning the golden glove at the World Cup with Belgium and his desire to represent Los Blancos is pushed by the fact his young family still live in Madrid.

With 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea find themselves in a difficult position for negotiations but have made it clear they will not be bullied into a sale despite finishing outside the Premier League’s top-four last term.

Real Madrid are desperate to land Courtois as their new number one but have not placed all their eggs in one basket, with Tottenham’s World Cup winner Hugo Lloris identified as an alternative.
