New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is making his mark at Stamford Bridge, already signing Jorginho from Napoli, but his next acquisition could be a major surprise.

The Sun states Sarri is looking to draft 38-year-old former England goalkeeper Rob Green to Stamford Bridge on a one-year deal as cover to his options between the sticks.

Well-travelled Green was set to retire after spending last year on the bench of Huddersfield Town but has delayed those plans in order to seal a move to west London, with Chelsea seeking depth after sending both Jamal Blackman and Eduardo out on-loan.

Green would be third-choice as it stands behind Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero, although the former is widely linked with a move to Real Madrid after entering the final 12 months of his contract – but Chelsea would sign a new first-choice stopper if he were to move.

Formerly of West Ham and QPR, amongst others, Green has 12 England caps to his name.
