Chelsea risk missing out on Sarri’s £57m-rated prime striking target

Maurizio Sarri has begun his overhaul at Chelsea and widespread changes are expected in the coming weeks at Stamford Bridge.

The new Blues boss is looking to shake-up his attacking options as he seeks to offload Alvaro Morata following his disappointing first campaign in English football, with the Spain international linked with a return to the Serie A.

Sarri’s prime striking target is Juventus’ 30-year-old forward Gonzalo Higuain, who may be sold following the Old Lady’s capture of Cristiano Ronaldo, but The Evening Standard reports that Chelsea risk missing out on the experienced striker.

Juventus’ Serie A rivals AC Milan have stepped-up their bid to keep Higuain within Italian football, where he previously represented Napoli, and the San Siro club have already made contact with the representatives of the Argentina international.

Chelsea would fund a swoop for Higuain with the sale of Morata, who they are seeking around £58m for, and the report adds Sarri wants to splash £57m on the 75-cap international.
