Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has inherited a side with plenty of problems at Stamford Bridge, giving the former Napoli boss plenty of work to complete before the new Premier League season kicks off in less than a month.
The Blues are set to lose the services of World Cup golden glove winner Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid, with Sarri’s side unable to fend off interest due to the fact he has entered the final 12 months of his contract.
Sky Sports report that Chelsea are eyeing familiar names in their quest to land a replacement for Courtois, as the Blues are considering bringing club legend Petr Cech back from Arsenal and also have Leicester City’s Premier League winning stopper Kasper Schmeichel on their shortlist.
Cech, who won four Premier League titles and the Champions League with Chelsea, joined Arsenal for £10m in 2016 but the Gunners’ capture of Germany international Bernd Leno has left his future in doubt.
Meanwhile, Schmeichel is seeking a move to a top club as he eyes a new challenge following a successful stint with the Foxes and a World Cup campaign with Denmark.
