Chelsea are prepared to enter the market to fight Manchester United for a prime target if Eden Hazard leaves Stamford Bridge.

The Independent reports that the Blues are keeping tabs on Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with a view to make a move if a rival bids for the Serbia international, who caught the eye with fine performances for his nation at the World Cup.

23-year-old Milinkovic-Savic was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United before the start of the tournament in Russia but a deal proved to be complicated due to his contract with Lazio and his price-tag – which is why Chelsea are also holding fire on a move.

However, that stance could change if the Blues lose Hazard or risk missing out on the player as it is added that the Blues understand that Milinkovic-Savic would favour a move to Stamford Bridge over other Premier League clubs.

The highly-rated star scored 12 league goals in 35 appearances last season, the same amount as Real Madrid target Hazard.
