Chelsea are set for a major restructure under new boss Maurizio Sarri, who has already brought Italy international Jorginho with him from Napoli.

The Blues continue to eye midfield additions though, amidst speculation that they are ready to cut ties with Tiemoue Bakayoko, andĀ ESPNĀ reports the club have enquired about the services of Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara.

27-year-old Thiago, who featured for Spain at the World Cup in Russia, has been widely linked with an exit despite the desire of the Bundesliga champions for the former Barcelona man to remain at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern’s midfield quota is stocked with the likes of James Rodriguez, Arturo Vidal and Corentin Tolisso, with new manager Niko Kovac looking to sanction one or two departures before the end of the transfer window.

That has led Chelsea to make their move but they are not the only side keen on the 31-cap midfielder, as Manchester United have also made an enquiry.
