Chelsea face a stern test in the transfer market as they seek to retain the services of a number of key players, giving Maurizio Sarri a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge.

Belgium duo Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard are both heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the latter looking set to secure a switch as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are desperately looking to add Hazard to their squad as they seek a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after his sale to Juventus – but Sarri is determined to retain the services of the 27-year-old.

Quoted by BBC Sport, he said:

“Hazard is a very high-level player. I hope that I will manage to improve him. I would like to have fun during the week with him. This would mean very good results and mean we would have been very competitive during the season,”
